england this morning. the winter storm moved ashore in the same location where superstorm sandy hit last week. there are new power outages in the region and up to 8" of snow in some of the places just what they didn't need. and it's interrupting recovery efforts, as well. teresa garcia has more from rockaway beach, new york. talk about piling on, right? >> reporter: yes, and frank, a good cold morning to you. just when people here thought they would be getting a break after superstorm sandy, in came the first nor'easter. people were along the shoreline communities pretty concerned that this was going to cause more flooding because we already have the ground so saturated. but indeed it turned into a snow or wind-driven snowstorm more so and actually caused some record snowfalls there. in central park in new york city, four inches. in new jersey, connecticut, up to a foot. here in rockaway beach they had at least 4." and all this snow is causing the clean-up efforts to be that much more difficult. >> high winds and heavy snow whipped the boardwalk in rockaway beach in queens, new york. tha

from yet another storm after stupors super storm sandy. wall street 30 minutes after the opening bell after the yesterday's huge losses, more in a minute. >> it is a beautiful start to the morning but it is really chilly out there. the good news is the winds are starting to die down. crystal clear conditions, no problems with visibility. temperatures are sitting in the '40's and '50's. later on this afternoon we're tracking a cold front will approach the bay area with rain. it will be relatively light in nature but widespread. we will continue to see scattered showers and temperatures will continue to drop. here's a look at your satellite and radar picture is sitting in a clot counterclockwise direction. a lot of their rain is sitting off shore and we do have some wet weather. it will continue to spend and sag its way south. i will walk you through the timing of the wet weather in my next report. >> to start with a quick what bridget check with the bay bridge toll plaza is an easy ride coming from 880. there's a short back up there a little bit longer 80 to 20 minutes of your coming f

the northeastern u.s. on the he'lls of hurricane sandy. that storm dropped a lot of snow in some areas. it's now lowly -- shely often -- it's now slowly moving out of the area. look at this. staten island. a nor'easter knocked out more power lines there. it also stopped commuter trains. this is a woman in new jersey, she was hoping to save more of her property destroyed. instead, she's picking out donated clothing. >> it sucks, for lack of a better way to say it -- better word. >>> there's good news, temperatures are slowly starting to rise. that snow, starting to melt this morning. >>> also, the winter storm has really messed up a lot of flights as well. airlines canceled at least 1300 flights, to and from the new york metropolitan area. sfo expected some flights from newark, j.f.k. and philadelphia to be canceled again today. if you plan to fly just call ahead first. yesterday, 31 flights were canceled, including flights to philadelphia, connecticut and washington, d.c. >>> 7:05. president obama is back in washington, d.c. this morning. still facing the challenges of a divided congress. the pr
